Protocol 1

DerivedN. C. Deno, 1993

Difficulty Low Rated by us, not by the source.

Start around September 17, 2027 for a May 3 last frost. Too late for spring 2027 — that needed starting on September 16, 2026.

  1. Dry storage

    Duration: 180 daysTemperature: 70°F 21°C

  2. Cold moist stratification

    Temperature: 40°F 4°C

about 6 months from start to step 2. Germination happens during step 2, in 21 days.

100% germination in 21 days.

Draba (Brassicaceae). Most Draba are D-70 germinators. A comparison of the high germination of DS to low germination of fresh seed was given in Table 5-1. Sowing of fresh seed at 70 not only gives low germination, but is often fatal. D. compacta germ. best with seed DS 6 m at 70 in either 70(96% in 5-9 d) or 40(100% in less than 3 w). Fresh seed was curious in that germination was extended at 70 but not at 40 as shown by 40(80% in 3-7w) and 70(1%)-40(54% in 1-3 w)- 70(1%).

Protocol 2

DerivedN. C. Deno, 1993

Difficulty Low Rated by us, not by the source.

Start around September 29, 2027 for a May 3 last frost. Too late for spring 2027 — that needed starting on September 28, 2026.

  1. Dry storage

    Duration: 180 daysTemperature: 70°F 21°C

  2. Sow and cover

    Temperature: 70°F 21°C

about 6 months from start to sowing. Then 9 days to germinate.

96% germination in 5–9 days.
